Asel Mendis Spectrum Analysis

Asel Mendis BBusCom, MAnalytics (Statistics), Gstat joined Spectrum Analysis in May 2019.

In 2014, Asel moved to Malaysia for his Bachelor’s Degree at Monash University Malaysia. He spent three years at Monash Malaysia while joining the Dance Fusion Club and Model United Nations Club. In 2016, Asel graduated with a Bachelor of Business & Commerce (Banking and Finance) from Monash University.

He has obtained the accreditation of Graduate Statistician from the Statistical Society of Australia (SSA) and is working towards the title of Accredited Statistician.

In January 2019, Asel became a contributor to KDNuggets, one of the largest Data Science knowledge-sharing websites in the world, and continues to write for them to this day.

In May 2021, Asel was accepted into the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program at Swinburne University to undertake research in road safety, transport, and health using statistics and spatial analysis, and geodemographics.

His time at Spectrum Analysis helped him to gain the skills needed to undertake this type of research that will help businesses, policymakers and governments make better decisions that could impact people’s lives.

Asel is primarily involved in:

  • statistical analysis and reporting
  • online mapping and visualisation
  • data collection and preprocessing 

After hours, you can find Asel volunteering as a Social Media Coordinator for the SSA, trying new recipes to cook, working out, and reading about current affairs, investing, and the economy.
