1. Independent School Fees and Victorian Government Taxes
I have been talking to several schools about the effects of the Victorian State Government’s additional payroll and other taxes that are now being levied on high fee schools in Victoria. It appears that approximately 65 schools will be impacted. 

When we looked at the average fees for schools based on the ACARA and MySchools data, the schools that charge “on average” more than $13,000 per annum are most likely to be affected. Whilst many schools will pass on the cost to families or just wear it initially, it may have a significant impact on some schools that may not have a  financial reserve and could force a definite loss situation. 

I sincerely hope that the selection process identified schools that could manage this transition. My personal view is that this may be very difficult for a couple of schools and merger discussions may need to be held to prevent sudden closures. Please contact us if you would like some reliable facts and data to make your enrolment predictions for your catchment areas.

2. Schools Supplier Finalist Award from The Educator
The Educator called on education service providers catering to schools across Australia to participate in the annual Service Provider awards. There are nine categories: learning management systems, recruiters, student and school management systems, school uniforms, interactive learning, performance tracking, suppliers, security software and professional development.
