Early Education and Child Care Centre Data Mapping
Spectrum Analysis have upgraded their online mapping for schools with the inclusion of the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority ACEQA preschool, early education, child care and outside school hours care centres’ data.
We have mapped the public records of 17,007 early education centres across Australia.
The data classifies six different types of child care from independent kindergartens to child care as part of schools.
Our GIS Analyst Nam Pham has developed a way of showing this by a white square, and then colours relating to categories that specific centres fit into.
Some centres fit into multiple categories. In the Legend of our mapping you can see a schematic showing you which colours represent which type of childcare:
Green – Long Day Care
Blue – Preschool / Kindergarten Standalone
Brown – Outside School Hours Care – Vacation
Red – Outside School Hours Care – Before School
Purple – Outside School Hours Care – After School
Light Blue – Preschool / Kindergarten Part of a School
This is on top of us adding Census 2021 and Census 2016 data so you can compare any areas Australia wide and ACARA enrolment data from 2008 – 2021 for every school.

You can see the different types of individual day care centres – for example ALL Long Day Care (LDC), all pre-schools / kindergartens which are stand-alone, preschools attached as part of a school etc.
